FAQ
What is a CSD?
CSD stands for “Christopher Street Day” and is an annual global demonstration against discrimination of LGBTQIA+ people. The demonstrations take place on various weekends throughout the summer. In 1969, a major event in the LGBTQIA+ movement took place on Christopher Street in New York City: the Stonewall Riots. The police frequently conducted raids on queer bars, including the Stonewall Inn on the night of June 27–28, 1969. The queer people in the bar refused to tolerate the raid, and the police were violently driven out. The name “CSD” for Pride demonstrations honors this uprising.
Can I participate if I have limited mobility?
Yes. To the best of our knowledge, the demonstration route is accessible, and the pace of the march is not too fast.
How do you accommodate neurodivergent people?
Just like last year, there will be signs explaining the procedures at the CSD; food vendors will take care to keep food items well-separated; and the back of the parade will be quieter.
How will my safety be ensured before, during, and after the demonstration?
We are working closely with the organization CSD Verteidigen to ensure the highest possible level of safety for participants. For example, there will be group transportation from Hamburg and from the Buchholz train station to the rally site. If you encounter any problems during the demonstration, you can contact the security staff or CSD Verteidigen at any time.
What does LGBTQIA+ stand for?
L – Lesbian
G – Gay
B – Bisexual
T – Transgender
Q – Queer (formerly a slur, now a general term for LGBTQIA+)

Does it cost money to participate?
No. The CSD is a political gathering, so there is no admission fee. At the street festival that follows, you’ll have the opportunity to make donations to various organizations.
Is the CSD just for the LGBTQIA+ community?
No, everyone is welcome to participate and show their support.
